COUNTDOWN Global Launch 10/10/20

Countdown is a global initiative to champion and accelerate solutions to the climate crisis, turning ideas into action. The goal: To build a better future by cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030 in the race to a zero-carbon world – a world that is safer, cleaner and fairer for everyone. Every organization, company, city and nation and citizens everywhere are invited to collaborate with Countdown and take action on climate. It is a movement open to everyone – and everyone has a vital role to play.

20200618_Countdown_Posters-01.pngI want you to close your eyes and think about the world in 10, 20, 30 years. Yes, now. Just for a few seconds. What did you see? Maybe you saw the actual world — the Earth, the beaches and forests you love, the cities and towns and places you call home, the star-studded sky, a crisp Autumn day. But maybe you saw … your world — your kids, your parents, your significant other, your best friend, your beloved pet.

What if I told you that the world, your world, is in danger? The world is hotter than it’s ever been. Sea levels continue to rise. Extreme weather is getting more extreme. And if this continues, parts of this world will become unlivable, displacing millions of people. It’s clear — climate change is here, and it’s urgent.

Now what if I told you, there’s hope? Scientists agree that if we can make significant changes to the ways we manufacture, power, feed, transport and protect — then we can save our planet. But we need you.

Learn about the role you can play in fighting climate change by joining me and millions of others for Countdown, TED’s bold initiative to accelerate solutions to the climate crisis.
